Message from the PTO President

December 2023

Hello and Happy Holidays!

The hustle and bustle of the season is here! Which kid needs snacks for the holiday party? Which one has a concert on what day? When are mid-terms? Are the holiday travel plans worked out? Are all gifts purchased and wrapped? Will my children remember the reason for the season and end the year filled with gratitude? There is A LOT of pressure on parents this time of year. Remember to take a breath and focus on things that bring you joy! Our PTO will do our best to remind you of things happening at LTMS over the next two weeks, and when you forget things, because we all do, simply go to your inbox and search "PTO".

Our PTO fundraising efforts are still going strong and we have almost reached our goal!! As a reminder, donations to LTMS PTO are tax deductible. With the end of the year approaching, now is a great time to max out your tax benefits and help us ensure that we can provide memorable and meaningful events for teachers and students in 2024. DONATE now before you forget!

Meanwhile, our PTO will continue working hard the rest of this year to plan next semester, which will be full of events for our students! Please join us at our next scheduled PTO General Board meeting in the New Year on Thursday, February 22, 2024. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact info@ltmspto.org.

Holiday Gift Giving Made Easy

Ho!Ho!Ho-lidayCheerforLTMSTeachersandStaff!

Calling all LTMS Knights! Let's unleash a blizzard of holiday cheer and shower our amazing teachers and staff with the warmest gifts!

Remember the magical joy that swept through LTMS last year with the GiftCrowd campaign? Well, get ready for a merry-go-round of happiness because the LTMS PTO is bringing it back!

With GiftCrowd, your generosity can directly touch the hearts (and pockets!) of those who inspire our students every day. Every little bit adds up - last year, our incredible community raised a whopping $4,992, allowing each faculty member to unwrap a jolly $52 gift card usable at a treasure trove of retailers, from Target and Amazon to Starbucks and more!

Ready to join the merriment? Here's how:

  1. Visit https://app.giftcrowd.com/app/join-event/eJnDySkcSg now through 10am on December 20, 2023
  2. Log in or create an account (it's quick and easy!)
  3. Add a heartfelt message from your family to the teachers & staff
  4. Select your donation amount - every penny helps spread the holiday spirit!

That's all it takes! No more last-minute gift shopping frenzy or wondering if you got the right thing. Just pure, unadulterated joy!

So, keep your eyes peeled for upcoming emails and social media posts about the GiftCrowd campaign. Together, let's create a snow globe of gratitude and appreciation for those who make LTMS such a special place.

Get ready to share the holiday spirit, Knights!

Let's make this a holiday season to remember!

Day of Service 2024
LTMS Day of Service 2024

Lake Travis Middle School and the LTMS PTO are thrilled to announce the highly-anticipated LTMS Day of Service scheduled to take place on March 28, 2024. This community outreach event has become a cherished tradition, bringing together students, families, local businesses, and organizations in a collective effort to make a positive impact on the Greater Austin Area and our Lake Travis Community.

For the past seven years, Lake Travis Middle School has been at the forefront of community engagement, facilitating five Day of Service events that have touched the lives of countless individuals. This event is a testament of the commitment that LTMS and the PTO have in fostering empathy, compassion, and a sense of social responsibility in their students.

While the Day Of Service is a few months away, planning is in full swing. At this time, we need support in the following areas

  • T-Shirt Art Design Competition: Encourage your student(s) to participate in the t-shirt design contest. Deadline is December 15, 2023. (Click here for additional details)

  • Community Volunteer Job Sites: If you have suggestions for potential service sites where students can volunteer, reach out to Janina Roberts at dayofservice@ltmspto.org. Your input can help diversify the range of services and locations available for the event.

  • Sponsorship Opportunities: Encourage local businesses, families, and individuals to consider sponsoring the Day of Service. There are multiple convenient ways to contribute:

    • Through Venmo: Make a payment to @ltmspto (charities tab) with a description like "DOS" for Day of Service and include your display name. Venmo Link

    • Online donations: Visit ltmspto.org and use the DONATE button to make a donation. Online Donation Link

    • Sponsorship check: Write a check payable to LTMS PTO, and include important contact information (Name, Display name, Phone, and e-mail address). Mail the check to the following address:

           Lake Travis Middle School PTO

           ATTN: PTO Day of Service

           4932 Bee Creek Rd

           Spicewood, TX 78669
If your business is sponsoring, email your logo to dayofservice@ltmspto.org for recognition.

All business sponsorships must be received by January 19, 2024.

Share this information with your local community, friends, and family members who might be interested in either volunteering or sponsoring the event. The more people who know about it, the greater the potential for support.

For families of students at Lake Travis Middle School, please mark your calendar for March 28, 2024 and plan to actively participate in the Day of Service. It is a valuable opportunity to give back to the community and learn important life lessons about compassion and service.

Note: Should there be inclement weather on the original date scheduled, our Day of Service backup date is April 5, 2024.

More Fundraising Opportunities

Not sure how else to help the LTMS PTO raise funds? Here are just a few more examples of how you can help:

Community Partners

Do you own a local business and wish to partner with us to impact the programs and activities provided to our students and teachers? As a valued business sponsor you will be recognized through various benefits depending on the sponsorship level you choose.

This year we have a brand new and very exciting sponsorship packet for local businesses. If you are affiliated with a local business, this sponsorship opportunity will not only help the LTMS PTO, but it will also give your business increased exposure. If you are interested in learning more, email Jocelyn Fary-Holzwarth or Tina Broussard at fundraising@ltmspto.org

We hope your business will join us in supporting education in our community.

Double Your Donation

Did you know that you can increase the impact of your PTO donation with a matching gift? Employee matching gift programs are corporate giving programs in which the company matches donations made by employees to eligible non-profit organizations like LTMS. It is a simple and effective way to double your contribution at no additional cost to you. Details here.

Volunteer Grants Make a Difference

Volunteer grants are corporate giving programs in which companies provide monetary donations to non-profit organizations where employees volunteer regularly. If you volunteer at LTMS, it’s an easy way to provide the school with additional financial support at no cost to you! Details here.

Spirit Store

No matter the season, Spirit Store is OPEN! and stocked with shirts, stickers, and other LTMS swag. You will receive an email notification when your order is fulfilled and ready for pick up at the school. All in-stock items purchased through Curriculum Night are ready in the office now.

Note: Hoodie orders are in and are being delivered.

Purchases of LTMS gear support PTO fundraising efforts. Thank you for your generosity!

General Meeting and Principal's Coffee
Principal's Coffee Image

Everyone is a member of the PTO at LTMS! We do not charge dues to participate and everyone is invited to attend General Membership Meetings, which give a glimpse into what is happening at the school and inform you of upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.

As our kids mature, there are fewer and fewer opportunities for parents to be in the classroom. PTO gives you the chance to be on campus and support your student through special events.

And when General Meetings are paired with Principal's Coffees, you get the opportunity to ask our Principal questions and learn first-hand what's on the horizon. Plus, you get free coffee in the morning!

Our next General Meeting and Principal's coffee is scheduled for Thursday, February 22, 2024. We hope to see you there.

Voters approve $143M Proposition in District’s 2023 bond election

With all Travis County votes counted late Tuesday night, November 7, Lake Travis ISD voters approved Proposition A in the District’s 2023 bond referendum—a $143 million package to fund new construction for stadium facilities serving students at High School #2, as well as renovations and upgrades at Lake Travis High School and LTISD's three middle schools.

"We are fortunate to live in a community where residents are passionate about supporting their schools," said Paul Norton, Lake Travis ISD Superintendent of Schools. “I would like to thank our school board, senior staff, and our Long-Range Facilities Planning Committee for their vision, dedication, and hard work during the past eight months. Thank you to our voters who supported equitable facilities for our students. It's a great day for Lake Travis ISD!"

For additional information about the district's 2023 bond, see the LTISD Bond 2023 page.
