SUBJECT: LTMS PTO Newsletter - March Edition

Message from the PTO President

March, 2022

Happy Spring, Parents!

Welcome back from Spring Break! We hope you all had fun trips and enjoyed the time away. We are now in the last grading period of the year and busy planning all the end of year events!

Recently, we learned about one of our teachers in need.  Our 7th grade Math teacher, Mrs. Kristi Nicholson, was faced with her daughter's cancer diagnosis. Our hearts are with Kristi and her family during this challenging time. If you would like to help support them, please consider making a donation to the Nicholson Family GoFundMe Site.

Cards, notes of encouragement, and other messages of support are welcomed and can be dropped off at the school office anytime. Mrs. Nicholson's 7th grade students have been sending art and kind notes to her during this period. We would like to welcome Ms. Gray, who will be covering Mrs. Nicholson's classes in her absence.

Our PTO Grade Representatives are busy planning Spring activities and our SAC Team will be treating our LTMS teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week in May. Watch for those announcements!

Please make sure to read Mr. Wolff's Knight News newsletter, and our PTO newsletters and emails to keep up on how you can support these Spring events with donations and volunteering, in the weeks to come!

We have PTO Board vacancies that are waiting for YOU! Please see the article below for those openings, descriptions of the board positions, and how you can join. If you have any questions, please reach out to any of our current PTO Board members, or email: nominations@ltmspto.org

The next PTO Board meeting is a General Membership meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 31st at 9:00am in the LTMS Library. Mr Wolff will provide school and district updates, and our board meeting will begin thereafter. If you are unable to make this week's meeting, join us at the April 21st General Board meeting as we vote to finalize next year's budget and the new board of volunteers that will serve 2022-23!

Don't forget about our March Spirit Night at P. Terry's this Tuesday. See the information below for more details. And be sure to set up those passive fundraising options because every penny counts!

Thank you for your support!

Parenting in a Digital Age

It comes as no secret that parenting can be challenging in an age where all types of information is accessible to and sharable with anyone that has a tablet, computer, or SmartPhone. With the launch of each new and trendy application comes the risk of exposing kids to various threats.

Each month, our Parenting in a Digital Age section will focus on sharing the various resources available in helping us navigate the ever changing world of social media, trends, apps, and Internet security.

This month's spotlight addresses social media and how you can encourage your teens to create healthy habits when it comes to online social media use. Six Ways to Help Your Kids Build Healthy Social Media Habits published by YRMC Health in Arizona, provides information on how you can help your teen safely navigate the world of social media. 7 Healthy Habits for Social Media published by Cone Health in North Carolina, also supports ways in which you can help drive those good social media habits.

If you have a resource recommendation that you would like to share for future Newsletters, please send the information to communications@ltmspto.org.

The school year is not over yet, we still have many more amazing events and activities planned for our Knight community!

Fundraising

P. Terry’s Burger Stand is hosting our next Spirit Night! Please join us on Tuesday, March 29th, from 5-8pm. 10% of the evening’s proceeds will benefit our Knight community! 3311 Ranch Road 620 S., Austin TX, 78738

We received a $106.96 donation from Amazon based on last quarter’s eligible purchases. We appreciate everyone who has selected LTMS as their charitable organization! For more information on how to help our school while shopping at Amazon click here.

Shout out to CodeWizardsHQ for hosting our January Spirit Nights and for all the LTMS students that enrolled in online coding classes. We earned $90.00 from course registrations. Check out their website for more information regarding summer classes and camps.

Fundraising Opportunities

Not sure how else to help the LTMS PTO raise funds?

Here are just a few more examples of how you can help:

Community Partners

Double Your Donation

Increase the impact of your PTO donation with a matching gift. A simple and effective way to double a contribution at no additional cost to you. Details here

Volunteer Grants Make a Difference

Volunteer grants are corporate giving programs in which companies provide monetary donations to non-profit organizations where employees volunteer regularly. If you volunteer at LTMS, it’s an easy way to provide the school with additional financial support at no cost to you. Details here.

Passive Fundraising

Earn money for LTMS every time you shop. This is an easy way to earn money for our school while doing something you already do. Please take a moment to sign up for these programs, which donate a percentage of your purchases back to our school or PTO. The more families that participate, the more we earn. Details here.

Spirit Store
We've Got Spirit, Yes We Do!

No matter the season, our LTMS Spirit Store is open and stocked with shirts, stickers, and other LTMS swag.

Purchases of LTMS gear support PTO fundraising efforts to help reach our fundraising goal of $15,000. Thank you for your generosity!

Join PTO
