Message from the PTO President

October 2022

Happy Halloween!!

GO VOTE! Early voting began Monday, October 24th and will end Friday, November 4th. Election Day is Tuesday, November 8th. For more information about Propositions A-B-C and voting locations, visit https://www.ltisdschools.org/bond

We hope all your kiddos have fun trick-or-treating with friends and family this long weekend! It’s hard to believe that we are quickly approaching Thanksgiving and soon after the winter break. There are many things to be thankful for and some of the most important ones in our children’s lives are their teachers, aides, mentors, tutors, and coaches. October was National Principal Month and our PTO had the chance to say thanks to our awesome leaders at LTMS: Mrs. Hudson, Mrs. St.Claire, and Mrs. Rizzoli, during our Fall Principal's Cookout.

As we roll into November and towards the Thanksgiving break, please sign up to donate pies for our Pie Market Day scheduled for Thursday, November 17th. Our PTO facilitates and makes sure each staff person at LTMS receives a pie before the holiday break and it has become a tradition that we all look forward to. Please know that due to COVID and district policy, we ask that you donate only store-bought pies (not homemade), so that we can safely give these desserts to our teachers and staff. If you’d rather us get the pie for you, we will also be taking donations per SignUp Genius and our awesome SAC team will make sure they are delivered to school.

We are SO very excited to announce that LTMS with district's help is bringing back Day of Service.  For those of you with high school students, you may recall this amazing community service day and we're so happy to bring it back for our middle schoolers. In the past ALL THREE middle schools would share the day, but due to changes in schedules and transportation availability, each middle school is planning their own Day of Service.  If you would like to join this very important Special Committee, please let us know at: dayofservice@ltmspto.org. Our first meeting will be Wednesday, November 9th, time TBD. We need folks to help with three areas of need: service site scheduling, sponsorships & T-shirt Design Contest facilitation, and snack/beverage & service rally coordination. Note: we will send out sign up for parent volunteer chaperones later in 2023. If you would like to sponsor Day of Service, please see the available levels and please let us know ASAP at: dayofservice@ltmspto.org.

Our fundraising efforts are still going strong and we have almost reached our goal!! Our PTO will continue working hard the rest of this year to plan next semester, which will be full of events for our students! We welcome volunteers and anyone interested in joining our board. Please join us at our next scheduled PTO General Board meeting in the New Year on Thursday, February 23rd 2023. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact info@ltmspto.org..

Principal Appreciation

As part of National Principal Month, the LTMS PTO had the honor of celebrating and thanking our awesome leaders at LTMS: Principal, Mrs. Rebecca Hudson, Assistant Principals, Mrs. Keitha St. Claire, and Mrs. Cristy Rizzoli. The celebration was held at the Principal's Cookout on October 6th. Thank you all for everything you do for us at LTMS!

Parenting Teens
Kindness & Unity Week

Wednesday, October 19th was recognized as Unity Day, a day to wear and share orange to send a visible message that no child should ever experience bullying. In an effort to show our community we are champions against bullying LTISD encouraged staff and students to wear orange to emphasize all students deserve to be safe in school, online, and in the community.

Did you know that you or your student can get immediate help by calling the National Suicide Hotline? The FCC has recently designated 9-8-8 as the National Mental Health & Suicide Prevention emergency number that went into affect last summer. You can find the information on the backside of your student's SmartTag.

Other parent resources and speakers are being planned by our district and by our LTMS PTO, so please be on the lookout for more information and to get involved with initiatives like these, please join our next PTO General Membership meeting, scheduled in February 2023. You can also reach out to our LTMS Counselor Team.

Parent & Student Resources

As part of our district’s commitment to student safety and mental health, Lake Travis ISD is pleased to launch the revised "Cavs Who Care" anonymous reporting tip line, effective Monday, October 31st.

Concerns can continue to be reported in one of two ways:

Students can report bullying, suicide concerns, depression, threats, cutting, abuse, fights, drugs, alcohol, weapons, or any other type of dangerous situation that threatens their safety or the safety of others. Reports will be addressed by a trained team of crisis personnel, school officials, and law enforcement officers, when necessary.

Treasurer's Snapshot

It’s been a busy start of the school year with fundraising events including the No Hassle Fundraiser, School Supplies, and Spirit Store sales. This year, our No Hassle Fundraiser goal is $8,000. We are ALMOST 100% funded, so please help us with the last ~$500!

You can help us achieve this goal, by registering on Membership Toolkit (MTK), logging in and selecting My Account to update your Family Information. After that, you can shop the Spirit Store and a make a donation.

If you are already registered with MTK, simply click here to donate. Funds raised benefit our teachers and students by helping fund staff appreciation events, grade level activities, and school wish list items.
